5 Facts About Combilift

As the largest global manufacturer of multi-directional forklifts, Combilift is up there with the top forklift brands in the materials handling industry. But, what makes Combilift the go-to choice for so many businesses?

To answer that question thoroughly would make an extremely long article, so we thought we’d narrow it down to 5 facts that you might not have known about Combilift, and about some of the forklifts the brand offers.

  1. One of Combilift’s founders was spotted when doing work experience

Martin McVicar, one of Combilift’s founders, started his career doing work experience at Moffett Engineering, a company run by Combilift’s other founder, Robert Moffett.

Due to his extraordinary talent and passion for engineering, Martin went on to work for Moffett Engineering, and by the age of just 19, became Chief Engineer. Then, in 1998, Martin McVicar and Robert Moffett combined their passion and knowledge for engineering and forklifts and created what we know today as Combilift.

  2. Combilift designed the world's first internal combustion engine-powered, multi-directional forklift

It was actually Robert Moffett and Martin McVicar that brought about the world's first internal combustion engine-powered, all-wheel drive multi-directional forklift. And it was because of the success of this design, that the pair were able to bring Combilift into existence, and all the superb products that came thereafter.

  3. Combilift exports to over 85 countries

The huge success of Combilift within the materials handling industry, now means that Combilift exports its forklifts to more than 85 countries worldwide. And to expand further – Combilift also has more than 60,000 of their fork trucks operating across the world, a feat no other forklift manufacturer has replicated.

  4. The Combilift Straddle Carrier can lift up to 35 tonnes

35 tonnes isn’t the usual required lifting capability for most companies, but if your business is haulage, containers etc. or often heading towards that sort of weight, this is where the Combilift Straddle Carrier comes into play…

This remote-controlled behemoth, with its telescopic lift and customised lifting points, allows for easy transportation on and off trailers, and an easy way to keep order in the depot.

  5. Combilift Multi-Directional forklifts are now available in 3 fuel types

Whether you’re looking for a forklift to work indoors or outdoors, or for longer or shorter periods, Combilift’s Multi-Directional forklifts now come in 3 fuel types. With a choice of LPG, Electric or Diesel, you now get all the benefits of this unique vehicle using a fuel that suits your commercial environment and the way you work.
The key benefits of Combilift’s Multi-Directional Forklifts include:

    • They’re an all-in-one solution – meaning they offer the benefits of a counterbalance forklift, narrow-aisle access, and side-loading.

    • They’re indoor and outdoor forklifts – which means the possibility of reducing your fleet size, and your business’s overall costs.

    • They have better manoeuvrability – the enhanced manoeuvrability of the Combilift Multi-Directional Forklift helps you to maximise storage space.
